Ways to Shoot the Newlywed Couple Together
Capture the Couple’s Most Loving Moments on Film:
For an events photographer who is just starting out in covering weddings, one of the many challenges that you need to overcome is how to capture the best and more loving moments of the newlywed couple on film.
Depending on the style that you have as a photographer, there are several creative methods that you can employ so that you can take beautiful shots of the newlyweds. Let’s say that it’s the start of the day and both the bride and groom are hours away from saying their “I do’s”. For this, you would need to take individual shots of the bride and groom of their families since the couple is not usually allowed to see each other during the wedding day itself.
Naturally, the first time that you will have a chance to shoot the bride and groom together is after she walks down the aisle and they are already facing the officiant of the wedding ceremony. This is your cue to start capturing the moments that matter to both of them: the first time that they’ve seen each other during the day which signals them spending the rest of their lives together.
Tips on How to Shoot the Newlywed Couple Together
So what are the things that you need to remember if you want to shoot the newlywed couple together? Here are a few tips that you should keep in mind:
1. Prior to the wedding, talk with the couple about their expectations of what your shots will look like.
Since the bride and groom is the center of attention during their wedding day, you should definitely get their input about the kind of shots that they expect from you as their wedding photographer. Who are the most important people in their lives that they want to take a formal wedding shot with?
Which part of the wedding is their favorite? Perhaps you can take a continuous shot of the wedding kiss, for example, so that they would have a lot of shots to choose from. Would they rather have a mixture of posed and candid shots, or just one kind for all of their wedding photos? This way, you can make sure that the output of your pictures will be to their utmost satisfaction.
2. As soon as the father gives away his bride to the groom, always keep your lenses focused on the couple.
Use long zoom lenses so that you can take close-up pictures of the couple even from a distance. This way, it will be easier for you to capture the stolen glances or the secret smiles that they are giving to each other during the ceremony.
3. Be a keen observant during the wedding reception, and always have your camera handy with you.
It’s the after wedding party that the newlywed couple will feel and look more relaxed and ready to have fun – because they know that the ceremony is finally over – and they have the honeymoon to look forward to.
This is the best time to always keep your focus on the newlyweds. Capture their togetherness on film and take shots of how they interact with their guests.
Keep in mind these easy-to-follow tips and the wedding album will surely be something that the married couple – and the future generations of their family are bound to treasure!
